Register now for a unique Iyengar Yoga 1 Year Evening Yoga Teacher Training. The course meets on Tuesday Evenings from 6-10 pm(with a diner break). This training has started and met a few times. You can still join now and make-up the missed lessons at some of the following weekend dates:

For those who need to take this course on the weekends, Richard is giving a 1 year purely weekend training starting April 2014.

The training will be given by Richard Schachtel a 30 plus year Iyengar Yoga Teacher and Founder & Director of The Center For Yoga of Seattle in Ravenna.

Iyengar Yoga is known for it's exacting focus on alignment, its ability to make yoga accessible to a wide range of student population(of ages, body types, physical conditions, injuries,and more), it's development of whole body strength as well as flexibility, it's wide range of practices from dynamic practice sessions, to restorative yoga, to yoga therapeutics,as well as for the high quality of its teachers.

BKS Iyengar the originator of this highly influential method of yoga is author of many books, including "Light on Yoga", "Light on Pranayama", and "Light on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali". Richard has trained directly with BKS Iyengar and Geeta Iyengar in India for over 30 years.

Richard is The Seattle Area's Only Authorized Iyengar Yoga Teacher Trainer. This program is one of only 33 approved Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training Programs in the US.

The training is for those wanting to develop and deepen their personal yoga practice, for those wanting to teach, for those currently teaching who would like to enhance their training and skills , as well as for those who are keen to learn more of highly influential Iyengar method of yoga.

Graduates will not be certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers but will be able to be Yoga Alliance 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teachers. The course is approved by Yoga Alliance. The Center for Yoga of Seattle is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School.

The training is excellent preparation and training for those interested in working toward obtaining eventual certification in Iyengar Yoga.

You do not have to be an advanced practitioner to be in this training. Students can enroll in order to deepen their personal yoga practice and to learn more in-depth about this life changing practice. Many of the students in the course will be taking for personal development.

Richard is one of the current 56 active certification assessors for the BKS Iyengar Yoga Association of the United States, and helps determine if students are qualified to earn the Iyengar Yoga Certified credential.

Richard operates the longest running yoga teacher training program in the Northwestern United States which began in 1986.

He has made 19 yoga study trips to Poona, India to work closely with BKS and Geeta Iyengar at their institute. Richard also trains in medical yoga therapeutics with the Iyengar family and recently completed a 3 year training in the therapeutic aspects of asana and pranayama in Iyengar Yoga in San Francisco.
