Warriors for Women is a week of yoga events where yoga teachers and studios gift some or all of their class proceeds to Ourmala, an organisation who's mission is to help refugee and asylum-seeking women find strength through yoga. This event coincides with the culmination of the week, held as part of the nationwide refugee week.

100% of funds raised will be used directly to give free yoga classes to refugee and asylum-seeking women in our local community.

Warriors for Women aims to:

1. Raise awareness about some of the most vulnerable members of our community, refugee and asylum-seeking women

2. Mobilise yoga teachers and students who believe in Ourmala’s mission and want to help

Refugee and asylum-seeking women are some of the most marginalised, vulnerable, and under-represented members of our society. Often these women have experienced torture, human trafficking and sexual violence. Many have fled for their lives.

Warriors for Women is the yoga community helping these women to move on with their lives. It is also a celebration of yoga itself, of the branches and blossom that grow as our roots deepen in practice, and the strength yoga gives us to make positive change together when our hearts, heads and actions align.
