About
Incredible India! Join us for this epic adventure discovering India’s
prime local spots.
The 12 days are divided into two 6 day sections. The first 6 days we
will travel and explore Delhi. Agra and Varanasi. The second 6 days we
will be staying in Rishikesh, the Yoga Capital of the World, located
in the foothills of the Himalayas where the holy river Ganges flows
through. Every day includes one yoga/meditation session with our
accompanying yoga teacher Katrina Thomson or with local teachers where
available. The adventure is a mix between yoga, relaxation,
sightseeing, cultural experiences and some physical activities out in
nature. All in all offering you the ultimate experience of India one
could imagine. The package is organised in cooperation between India
expert Roy van den Bor, Wholesome Life and our trusted local Indian tour
operator.

Delhi
In the first two days we will see the best of Delhi, exploring the
hustle and bustle of Old Delhi, the main bazaar: Paraganj, the amazing
Red Fort and the stunning Humayuns Tomb featuring incredibly detailed
Persian artwork. You will be staying at a luxury hotel including our
own yoga hall where we will have two yoga sessions with Roy. From here
we will take the evening train to Agra, the train is the most fun way
to experience Indian culture! You will most likely meet Indian
families travelling to their home or relatives, perhaps offering you
some food as is their part of their many lovely customs.

Agra
The home of India’s most revered sight, the Taj Mahal, Agra cannot be
missed on your Indian itinerary! We will explore Agra’s Fort and
Itamad’s Tomb during the day time, in the afternoon we will head out
to see the mighty Taj Mahal. We will stick around the “Taj" for a
while until sunset, the deep red colours will add a contast to the
white ancient structure that is truly majestic to the eye. In the
evening we will take the AC Sleeper train to Varanasi. This journey is
the ultimate way to experience how Indian locals travel and we will
make sure it is a safe journey! The train takes about 12 hours, you
will have your own bed with bedding supplied by the Indian Railways.
Alternatively we can book a private taxi if you are not comfortable
traveling by train, this will take around 8 hours overnight.

Varanasi
The spiritual centre of India, Varanasi is located at the Ganges
river. The holy city of Varanasi, or Benares as it was called in
Ancient India, preserves much of India’s older culture. The winding
small streets with old buildings will take your heart and soul years
back in time. We will stay for 2 days and 2 nights in Varanasi. On the
first day we will explore the streets and have a look at the burning
ghats, the place where cremations take place. Although perhaps not the
most pleasant sight, the burning ghats offer an interesting insight
into the Hindu culture. Being cremated in Varanasi means that the
person will achieve immediate Enlightenment, Samadhi or Moksha. On the
second day we will explore the Hindu Monkey Temple and during the time
of sunset we will take a boat cruise on the holy river ganges, giving
you the best perspective of the river side front of the much revered
city of Varanasi, an experience not to be forgotten during this
lifetime!

Rishikesh
Included in the fee is the flight from Varanasi to Rishikesh, saving
us a lot of time traveling and making our journey more comfortable. In
the afternoon we arrive at our final destination, Rishikesh, the Yoga
Capital of the World, in the foothills of the Himalayas. After all
this traveling we will stay for 7 nights in the spiritual centre of
Rishikesh, close to the river Ganges and surrounded by ashrams and
bearded holy men. In the part of Rishikesh where we will be staying
cars are not allowed in and allow us to get away from the often busy
Indian street sounds. The full 6 days that we will be staying are
filled with yoga sessions from the best teachers in India that Roy has
gotten to know in the full 8 months that he lived in Rishikesh. Every
day we will also be undertaking some activities.

The activities in Rishikesh include but are not limited to:

Travel to Kunjapuri Temple to see the sun rising above the snow peaked
Himalayan mountain peaks and then trekking down through India’s
nature.
Wild water rafting on the river Ganges with some amazing sights of the
Himalayan foothills on the way.
Explore the Maharishi Mahesh Ashram where the Beatles stayed and wrote
some of their albums.
Trek to the Neelkanth Temple, where Hindu Deity Shiva drank the
poison, and learn about Hindu mythology.
Attend a privately organised lecture with one of Rishikesh most
revered spiritual teachers to gain more knowledge about the spiritual
side of yoga and to take a deep look into our being.
Experience special evening Aarti, a devotional performance at Parmath
Niketan Ashram, along the banks of the Ganges experiencing India’s
real spiritual side.
Another night we will be involving ourselves in Kirtan, devotional
chanting, the yoga of the heart.
Be fully amazed by a privately organised Indian Classical Music
concert featuring the Sitar and Tabla.
Meditate in the Vashista cave, a cave where a yogi meditated for years
and experienced enlightenment, you will be able to meditate inside the
cave and experience the calmness of his energy that still lingers.
