"My yoga retreat in Cambodia was wonderful. I have spent a week at Blue Indigo Cottage Yoga Retreat and it was exactly what I needed. It is a beautiful little cottage in Siem Reap not far from the magnificent and so inspiring Angkor archeological site, as well as friendly and thoughtful people surrounding you with infinite kindness and attention.

The daily yoga sessions at 6 and 4 were really motivating as Elodie; the yoga teacher, is really creative and compassionate and know how to adapt the sequence to what you need and get the most of out it.

Also, one of the retreat peak moments was the yoga sessions at the temples, which were outstanding and something you have never experienced before.

The cabin was great, comfortable, and brand new, a real cocoon with a typical wooden and stones bathroom. Food was organic with a daily detox juice after morning yoga session - so yummy.

I really had a great time at the Blue Indigo Cottage Yoga Retreat, and can only highly recommend the place as I will return for a longer period next time and also sincerely thanks the people, Jean Yves, Mythia, Patrick, and all of them for the warm welcome and made me feel at home."

"Being so crammed everyday at work in Tokyo, I really needed the time I spent at the Blue Indigo Yoga! My first impression of the yoga center was beautiful interior decoration of elephants and flowers. The place is very clean and organized, and breakfast and lunch vegetarian food was quite tasty. Yoga teacher was quite friendly as well, I was traveling alone so I enjoyed meeting people from different countries as well."

Review by Vincent S. from Brooklyn, New York, United States:

"I was lucky to come across the Blue Indigo on the recommendations of a good friend that knows Jean-Yves, the owner. I must say, as I have been a few times to Siem Reap that it was a very pleasant discovery. My wife and I were looking for something different - living in New York we needed a relaxing break and we were charmed by this little gem. Very close to the center of Siem Reap but surprisingly quiet. I am not a yoga and meditation dedicated practitioner as my wife is but we both - at different levels - appreciated the quality of the teachings. It does not happen very often in your life that a monk shares his knowledge of meditation with you."

Review by Patrick F.:

“We stayed in the wooden bungalows and enjoyed the yoga sessions with Nengha, and the detox and dragon fruit juices. It was good as we visited temples in the morning ten yoga every afternoon. The place is as advertised, very quiet and well arranged, minutes from downtown. We also went to a remote temple for meditation, unique experience. I recommend if you'd like to improve yoga and meditation and also do detox.”

Modern yoga
Western philosophy and psychology even now lay great stress on the physical body and consider the mind to be its by-product. Even the western view of yoga is also the same, and most of the yoga practices are done only at the physical body level, however there are some practices at breathing body level too. Yoga is also fragmented. Some teach and practice only one aspect or one part of the yoga process, while some mix it with other forms of physical exercises. Therefore, most of the modern yoga are not authentic. They have moved away from the originality of the pure traditional holistic yoga.

Course outline
Students will learn and experience:

Raja yoga (path of willpower) - Patanjali's holistic Ashtanga yoga (slow, focused, meditatively with breathing, knowledge, and smile) and Hatha yoga (branch of Raja yoga)
Karma yoga (path of action) and Bhakti yoga (path of devotion and emotion)
The basics of yoga therapy for preventing and managing psychosomatic diseases (80% of the modern day diseases)

In addition to the above, basic knowledge of Ayurveda and foot reflexology (Watpo style) also will be taught.

Students will be trained in:

The application of Raja yoga - yoga teaching as a career
How to start a yoga center / studio
Marketing techniques
Identifying market segments and devising suitable marketing strategies, and yoga modules for different market segments
Yoga and healthcare / yoga therapy, yoga and social work, yoga modules for students, elderly persons, pregnant ladies, sports persons, trekkers, etc.

What to expect

Students will be able to teach both traditional holistic authentic Ashtanga yoga and authentic Hatha yoga.
Students will have a clear understanding about how to start a career as a yoga teacher.
