Yogi Charu is a yoga and meditation practitioner of over 20 years with a unique yoga background:
He discovered the Bhagavad Gita at the age of 15 and left his native Belize at the age 16 to pursue yoga, which by then had become a deep passion for him.
He would spend the next 7 years between the Vaishnava Ashram in Los Angeles and India, before becoming inducted into the Brahma Madhva Gaudiya Sampradaya (lineage), at which time he fully migrated to India.
There, he would deepen his studies by moving into the Himalayas to learn from adept yogis like Yogi Vijaya and embracing an austerely yogic lifestyle, before moving to Hong Kong, later to Sydney, and finally settling in New York.
Today, Yogi Charu teaches public classes at The Bhakti Center and at Pure Yoga, where he is the co-head of instructor training. Pure Yoga has been voted "Best Yoga" by New York Magazine in 2009 and 2010 and is one of New York City's leading studios.
