Why Grape Harvesting?

The Symbolic Connection between Yoga, Grapes & Wine

Grapes and wine are an ancient symbol of fertility, joy, healing and vitality. Wine represents the" Blood of Life" and the alchemical process of infusing the creative, intoxicating spirit into matter. Wine is used in the sacred rites of many civilizations, representing the presence of the Divine Spirit on earth. Yoga, like grapes and wine, offers a powerful pathway to leading a joyful, healthy, fertile lifestyle and the practice itself, which offers us a direct connection to the Divine within ourselves, can be quite an intoxicating experience, indeed!

Questions & Answers

What kind of yoga sadhana will be practiced?
The word "Soshin" is from Japanese and means "beginners mind". It reminds us how it is to be a beginner, open-minded, devoteld, and with the absence of prejudice. With a beginners mind we can feel very good, whether we do Yoga for the first time or maybe just recently. It helps us to be more relaxed, hold poses more strongly and to be more open-minded toward others as well as ourself.

During the yoga sadhana, we will get in touch with classic yoga poses, gain insight into Yin Yoga and begin our day with Zen Meditation. At the end of the week, we will celebrate the Global Mala, where we will connect with Yogis and Meditators around whole world in a state of unity. The beginners mind will help us. Like Sunruy Suzuki says, "If your mind is empty, it is ready for anything.“

What is Zen Meditation (Zazen)?
Zazen is the meditation-form of Zen-Buddhism. In Zazen, both the sitting pose and the concentration on the meditation-method ( counting breath) is important. Regular practice positively influences on our physical and mental well-being.

Who is this event suitable for?
This event is open to everyone. Beginners can develop and explore the practice, learn from others and learn to listen to their own body, taking a brake when needed. More experienced practitioners can learn from the beginners and the ´beginners-mind,` in an effort to come back to the status of not knowing. As such, all levels are welcome.

Are there any bonuses in store?
Yes, the grape harvest on Tuesday will have you experiencing an ancient tradition from Hvar that dates back over 2000 years, while the Global Mala Celebration itself will open your heart and mind to the power of intention and the potency of collective prayer and positive action.
