The rejuvenating classes in Go Yoga's antenatal yoga course are empowering for pregnant women and teach that every woman’s experience of pregnancy is unique and every birth, be it natural or C- section, is a sacred and blessed experience!
Antenatal yoga is a highly informative and hands on course especially for women in their 2nd or 3rd trimester of pregnancy. It aims to help women adapt and prepare physically for the stresses that pregnancy and childbirth place on the body, in addition to aiding postnatal recovery and care.
The specifics of practice vary from week to week for each woman, as her body and energy levels change throughout pregnancy. Briefly, yoginis learn invigorating sun salutations, strengthening standing poses, restorative hip and shoulder opening poses and introspective forward bends. In addition to muscle conditioning, postures, pelvic floor awareness and birthing breath, antenatal Yoga also provides the needed time out through breathing, relaxation and meditation.
The practical element of the course also educates women how to safely maintain their normal fitness regime throughout pregnancy. They learn how to adjust and modify their participation in regular yoga and general fitness activities.
Last but not least, women in antenatal yoga form a special bond and are free to relate their experiences without judgment in a divine circle of support.
Jackie also encourages women to talk about their specific needs regularly as their pregnancy progresses; that way she can adapt the antenatal Yoga practice to suit every woman’s need.

*Pregnant Yoginis are encouraged to take all six weeks of the course starting with week one (Sunday Nov 6th), but they can also participate in any gentle hatha class on the Go Yoga timetable by intelligently and safely modifying some of the poses and sequences based on what they have learnt in this course.
Jackie has over 20 years of experience in the medical health, fitness and wellness industries. She is a level 2 (500+hr) senior Yoga Australia registered teacher and has tremendous practical understanding of the functional, living anatomy of the human body with a light-hearted and off-beat sense of humour.
