Full Description

A day of Shakti Dance, Dru Yoga Dance, Poetry and Kirtan with HariPyari, Joanna Bertzeletos, DJ Darshana and Bex Burch.

Yoga and Dance workhops from 10am to 4pm
Kirtan 6.00 to 8.30pm

This day has been designed to lift our creative energy and prana (life force) through the use of specific yoga movements, mudras, yoga nidra, meditation, sound, sacred mantra, conscious music and spoken word. By gently opening up the pranic current through these practices we will embrace a state of mystic, meditative consciousness. The body and mind will be able to surrender and merge with the intelligent, creative flow of Shakti (energy).

Shakti Dance is a combination of flowing yoga stretches (asanas), energising dance steps, expressive free dance meditation, relaxation, mantra with movement, and silence; which puts us in touch with our true nature, pure consciousness, our shining light within.

Watch HariPyari leading a taster session of Shakti Dance:

Dru Yoga Dance is a beautiful, flowing and dynamic form of yoga practice where we link traditional yoga postures into a flowing sequence accompanied by conscious music, sound and sacred mantra.

Watch some Dru Yoga Dance here:

Having awakened the senses through a tapestry of beautiful movement, conscious music and spoken word we will then embark on a journey of connecting with sacred mantra through the means of Kirtan. Kirtan is another style of yoga where we use the vibrational qualities of ancient Sanskrit mantras to deeply heal, nourish and soothe our being. It is a very simple & powerful way to meditate. It’s effortless & joyful and the music does the work for you as you flow with the melody & rhythm.

The workshop will cover body preps, yoga postures, sequence techniques, deep relaxation and meditation and much more. No previous experience of yoga, dance or Kirtan is necessary.

£40 waged and £35 concession for the day workshop only (does not include Kirtan)

About your facilitators…

HariPyari has fallen in love with the path of Bhakti Yoga (of which chanting is a key element). She organises the BE LOVE Bhakti Immersions in London and organised the UK's first ever Bhakti Music Festival (in August 2011) which brought devotional musical practices from various traditions together as one, in the spirit of universal love and devotion. She leads Kirtan, Shakti Dance and Yoga Nidra in London & around the UK. Her practice has been influenced by many teachers and traditions, and she is highly grateful for the people who have inspired and supported her. HariPyari feels incredibly blessed to have found this divine practice and to be able to share it with others.

Joanna Bertzeletos has been a practitioner of yoga for over 20 years, teaching for 10 years and is a highly skilled and educated teacher. She teaches yoga to kids, adults, schools, businesses and specialises in yoga therapy for back care and Dru Yoga Dance. Her teaching style is intuitive, informative, joyful and fun.

DJ Darshana aka Benjamin Major has dabbled in many areas of the creative arts over the years. He is a self-taught graphic designer and web designer, has written poetry, recently completed a PhD and has now developed an interest in DJing. His poetry can be found here: and his DJ mixes here: 121.
