WHY FOCUS ON ALIGNMENT?
Have you ever gone to a yoga class and wondered if you were "doing it right?" Well, the easy answer is yes, as long as you were breathing and trying to stay in the present moment. But the wonderful thing about yoga is that there are always opportunities to learn, grow and refine your practice.
We come to yoga for relief from many of life's ailments. When practiced with proper alignment, yoga can build strength and create more freedom and ease in the mind body and spirit. But all too often daily stresses. trauma or injury cause us to disconnect with our bodies.
This can create unbalanced and inefficient movement patterns in the body, which can increase tension, strain and injury instead of relieving it. With mindful and creative movement, we'll feel what it is like to truly present in our bodies and break down common yoga poses that helps keep our bodies safe, supple and strong.

These classes are great for those newer to yoga as well as those with some experience under their belts who want to take a closer look at their practice. One Saturday a month, 1:30-3:00 , at Yoga Omazing.
ALIGNING WITH THE SUN
The sun salutation, or Surya Namaskar, is the foundation of any Vinyasa Yoga class. When done mindfully, it can strengthen and stretch the body in preparation for more demanding postures to come. We’ll examine proper alignment and possible modifications for the poses of Surya Namaskar A and B, including that pesky Chaturanga Dandasana, as well as looking at how to safely and smoothly transition between poses.
TAKING FLIGHT INTO CROW
Are you working on lifting off into crow? We’ll break down this arm balance into its basic building blocks and practice opening and strengthening the body to take flight in Crow, Side Crow and some other fun variations.
WORKING INTO WHEEL
Wheel or Urdhva Dhanurasana, is a deep backbend that was probably accessible to you as a child. As we age we lose some of that natural flexibility and mobility. We will work on opening the front body and strengthening the back as we work towards this uplifting heart-opener.
