AMI Yoga Book Club

Once a month - we will meet, mingle, discuss, reflect and practice yoga. We will select a book beginning of the month, and the work is simply to read and connect at the end of the month at a predetermined location near town.

This month we will be reading Baron Baptiste’s Being of Power.

Full Description


The first 6 who signs up by 31st March will put in the draw; the winner will be announced on 5th of April 2018.


The AMI Yoga Book Club is created to bring people together and connect over a good book and yoga. The books of choice are transformative and will require you to be curious and be in inquiry.

We promise that it will not be intimidating - instead it’s like hanging out and talking through your ideas with great Even if you do not have anything to contribute, your presence and energy will be valuable to the community.

We will meet once a month and expect to stay 2-2.5 hours. Location will be in the vicinity of Novena/Newton area.
Each monthly meet will begin with a social session, followed by the book discussion and will end with a energising vinyasa flow. Light snacks/tea will be provided. Pot luck is more than welcome!


You are responsible to buy or borrow the books.
For the first meeting, we will delve into Baron Baptiste’s Being of Power.

If you choose not to purchase or you have not finished reading, you may still join our monthly meets.
But it will be helpful to read or have a copy for reflection during discussion and as a reference for your continued yoga practice.

Yogis and Non-yogis, basically anyone and everyone who is interested in reading (or re-reading) books relevant to the practice of yoga off the mat.
Also great for those who struggle to find the motivation to read. It's been proven that having a deadline and an encouraging community might be the push you need!


Taking action is the first step.
Other than that there are no rules. We all read at our own pace. And you do not have to finish reading to attend the monthly meets.

To inculcate the practice of reading, we encourage that you schedule a time to read, for example half and hour before bed. Also have a journal and pen on hand to write down your thoughts and/or anything that inspires you.

Sophie Kassim Sanders is a certified Baptiste Yoga & Stotts Mat Pilates Teacher who is passionate about expanding the Baptiste Yoga community in Singapore. She currently leads group classes with Alpha Balance and AMI Power Yoga and when she’s not teaching, she writes her blog at . She is all about helping non-yogis find their true self through the practice of yoga by infusing joyfulness with mindfulness on and off the mat.

Beth Bayley is an inspired Baptiste Yoga Teacher and fitness instructor who believes in helping others find strength through softening. A writer and archivist by training, she believes in the power of words, especially those we say to ourselves. And as an ardent fan of restorative yoga and metta meditation, she hopes to share her belief that yoga can create more self-compassion, joy, and ease for all.
