Anahata - Heart Chakra Yoga Flow

Join us for a transformational, heart-opening yoga class to awaken and fully embody the spiritual heart at the centre of the body; anahata chakra!
We will warm up, expand and open up the chest and shoulders area, flow through heart-centred and self-loving anahata salutations, which will then lead us into fluid, embodied, juicy backbends. We will finish in deep forward bends, to bow to our heart's potential, followed by a hearty savasana and an anahata-specific mudra meditation.

Full Description

The chakras are described as the energetic portals of life force, the 'wheels of energy' in the human body. The seven main chakras are located on a vertical axis, along the spine. Each of them corresponds to a specific colours, sound, symbol, as well as to particular areas and organs of the human body and aspects of life experience. Unleashing their immense potential, through the practice of yoga, brings about a state of balance and radiant health on all levels.

Chakra Yoga brings together a wide range of both classical and contemporary practices, to create a well-rounded transformative experience. These include chakra-specific sun salutations, longer-held yoga asanas with concentration on the chakras, pranayama (breathing), mantras, mudras (hand gestures), bandhas (body locks), meditation and visualization, relaxation, bioenergetics, mindfulness, archetypes, and more…

This week we will be focusing on the fourth chakra, anahata or heart chakra, otherwise known as the seat of the (Higher) Self; Atman. Anahata forms the bridge between the three lower and three upper chakras, is the centre of unconditional love, ultimate devotion and deep compassion, and is related to the air element.

In this class, we will warm up, expand and open up the chest and shoulders area, flow through heart-centred and self-loving anahata salutations, which will then lead us into fluid, embodied, juicy backbends. We will finish in deep forward bends, to bow to our heart's potential, followed by a hearty savasana and an anahata-specific mudra meditation.

Our theme will be self-love and compassion, and we will be exploring how we can embody and apply the qualities of the heart chakra in our yoga practice and in our life in general.
