Anatomy fun for yogis: Our inner architecture and uniqueness
We are unique not only on the outside, but also on the inside, perhaps, more than you thought. Why some people can do a lotus pose after six months, while others not even after five years? What if it were due to bone shape? We will look at our inner architecture, joint movements, the concept of ‘compression vs tension’, and skeletal variations.

We are unique not only on the outside, but also on the inside, perhaps, more than you thought. Why some people can do a lotus pose after six months, while others not even after five years? What if it were due to bone shape?
First we will look at our inner architecture and the directions in which each body part likes to move. Then we will explore the concept of ‘compression vs tension’, skeletal variations, and try to feel them in ourselves. This workshop might help you to understand your inner landscape better.
In order to have a safe practice that is appropriate for your unique body, basic knowledge of anatomy can be very useful. It could help you interpret more skilfully sensations during yoga poses and thus avoid injuries. Knowledge of anatomy is empowering — it opens new doors to dialogue with your body and make meaningful choices in your asana practice.
Language of instruction is easy-to-understand English; some explanations in French when necessary. Questions can be asked in English, French and Dutch.
Practice part will be Yin yoga.
This workshop is appropriate for both experienced yogis of all styles and relative beginners with at least one-year of consistent practice. Prerequisites: curiosity and open mind.
