Full Description

We are going to explore the anatomy of the shoulder and how to be safe in our practice. With this workshop
you will gain a better understanding of how the shoulder moves and how it becomes restricted. We will put it into action with asana and work slowly to feel these muscles and ball and socket joint at work!!

Have hip and knee issues or want to learn how to protect yourself from injury?

If you’ve ever experienced knee or hip pain, you know how tenuous simple activities such as walking down the stairs or squatting can feel—let alone attempting the vast range of positions and movements in a typical yoga class. Luckily, yoga offers many tools to create space and relieve pain in the knees and hips.

The hip joint is one of the most important joints in the human body. It allows us to walk, run, and jump. It bears our body’s weight and the force of the strong muscles of the hip and leg. Yet the hip joint is also one of our most flexible joints and allows a greater range of motion than all other joints in the body except for the shoulder.

This discussion will give you the tools through yoga to stretch and strengthen the muscles around the hips and thighs in order to address the full range of motion in the hips, and in effect, protect the knees.
