Asana as Meditation

Asana is the practice of moving your body into and through yoga poses. Traditionally, it's practiced as a precursor to seated meditation. Mindfulness during asana should always be encouraged, but do you practice mindfulness to the point of meditation? The focus of this workshop is to learn to use asana as the context for meditation.

Full Description

Asana is the practice of moving your body into and through yoga poses or postures. Traditionally, it is practiced as a precursor to seated meditation. Mindfulness during asana should always be encouraged, but do you practice mindfulness to the point of meditation? That will be the focus of this workshop, to learn to use asana as the context for meditation, essentially meditating while holding a static pose or while gently flowing through poses.

In this workshop we will:
-have a brief beginner-level introduction to Ananpana Sati, mindfulness of breathing
-practice 2 alternating sessions each of seated meditation (15-20 mins each) & meditative asana (30-40 mins each)
-gain a better understanding of integrating asana and meditation

This workshop will be co-led by Cindy Phillips and Cedric Reeves.
