Come and experience the “Primary Series” of Ashtanga Yoga. The approach is based on a specialized sequencing of postures and focused breathing techniques, utilizing Ujjahi breath, Bandhas (locks) and Drishti (gaze). Although a challenging practice, modifications will be given for everyone to enjoy the poses with ease and grace.
Your journey is personal, so respect your body and honor your limitations. Several Sun Salutations will begin your practice to ignite your internal fire. Following is a series of standing and seated postures, with Vinyasa’s in between poses to keep the body heated.
The finishing series include two inversions (shoulder stand and headstand), preparations can be done without coming into the full inversions. Finishing practice will be a well-deserved Savasana corpse pose)!!
About Tanya: I started my yoga journey 6 years ago, started out taking a class here and there to help stretch from workouts for triathlon trainings. I started to want to learn more and started practicing at White Orchid Yoga, where after about a year I took 200-HR RYT, Yoga Teacher Training One Month Intensive with Ally Ford in 2012, which was the best thing I’ve ever done, I learned so much about myself and my practice grew stronger and softer, I let go of things I didn’t know I held onto, and found peace in my life. After finishing Massage School and Teacher Training, I started my teaching journey, wanting to share what I have learned with others.
My practice is more traditional, Mysore Style, self practice, Ashtanga Yoga, but love all forms and styles of yoga. I love teaching but also love being a student even more, combined with my training in massage therapy I have a perfect balance in helping others, which is what I love the most about my work. I teach Full and Half Primary with a Traditional led Sanskrit count as well as have taken an apprenticeship to teach Mysore, I aspire to one day start a Mysore program in traditional form. I love teaching all styles from Ashtanga, Vinyasa flow, power, beginnners, pranayama. I have taken many workshops from Tim (TIMJI) Miller, and Greg Nardi week intensives, Kino Mcgregor and Tim Feldman in Miami, all of the workshops and teachers inspire me just as much as my teachers here at home do, to strive and continue to learn and grow as a student and then a teacher.
