About the Retreat:
This retreat is designed for all levels of Ashtanga yoga students to deepen their practice, without distraction, in a remote paradise beach environment where you can reconnect with nature, yourself, and like-minded spirits.
Mornings begin with Meditation, Pranayama, and a Mysore-style Ashtanga practice. After brunch you have lots of free time until the late afternoon sessions, which will vary from Technique Workshops, Adjustment Clinics, Yin Flow, Backbend Workshops, Introduction to Thai Massage, and in- depth Philosophy discussions. Evenings will have Yoga Nidra, which can bring peace and open you to profound insights within. Friday is a totally free day after the morning practice - until the Evening session of Yoga Nidra. You can choose your own activities, from exploring the island or enjoying a Thai-massage at the spa, to lying by the beach with a good book and a cool drink. There are optional activities like Thai Cooking class, Guided Nature Walks, Long Tail boat Island Hopping, Rock Climbing, or a Kayak adventure, which can be booked separately with the resort. Your stay may be filled with activity or kept relaxing and restorative - any way you like your holiday! You will return to your daily routine revitalized, recharged, and transformed, with a new-found sense of ease, strength and flexibility, both on and off the mat!

Getting there: Fly to Phuket and your retreat begins after you land at the airport. Resort staff will pick you up, and whisk you away to a nearby marina, where, in less than an hour, a speedboat journey through the acclaimed Phang Nga bay will bring you to The Paradise Koh Yao Beach Resort. Your retreat begins as soon as you land at the resort! Kick off your shoes, take a walk on the beach and surrender to the beauty of Koh Yao Noi island and your yoga practice.
The retreat begins on Saturday, July 18, at 3pm. Please arrange your flights so that you can arrive by noon on Saturday, and be checked and settled-in before 3pm. If you prefer to arrive a whole day in advance, please let me know and we can arrange for that as well with the resort.
We will start with an Opening and Welcome session at 3:30pm, followed by a Gentle Flow and Restorative Class and an Introduction to Yoga Nidra practice to set the tone of our theme The Journey with Purpose. Through our Yoga Nidra sessions in the evening, you will access the state of conscious Deep Sleep. In Yoga Nidra, you will leave the Waking state, go past the Dream state, and go to Deep Sleep, yet remain awake. It is very relaxing, but ultimately it is used to purify deep subliminal imprints or samskaras, that are the driving force of your actions and karma. It can bring clarity and insight, and can purify the deeper aspect of the mind-field, which is accessed in the formless state of conscious Deep Sleep.
