Ashtanga Yoga Glastonbury Teacher Training, certified by Yoga Alliance

The Ashtanga Yoga Glastonbury Teacher Training 200 hour Diploma course, accredited by Yoga Alliance UK will begin on July 31st, 2016.
The course will be spread over one year, consisting of a six day induction followed by eight weekend modules. The main teacher trainer will be Jane Piddington, assisted by Françoise Schelstraete. Brian Cooper

A £600 deposit secures your place on acceptance, with 3 further instalments of £500 payable on or by July 18th, October 1st, 2016 and February 1st, 2017.

Full Description

This teacher training course will provide the trainee with the knowledge and skills required to teach yoga safely and with confidence
The training will be based around Primary Series Ashtanga Yoga and will encourage students to find their own style and way of teaching.
It is spread over a year to encourage trainees to grow in their own practice and understanding of yoga, while developing their teaching technique and individual style,
By the end of the course trainees will qualify as safe, creative yoga instructors ready to impart the valuable teachings of yoga to others.

Teaching and practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga to its full potential with correct use of breath, energetic locks and sequence

Adjustment technique, practice and how to use it to deepen the practice of others and your own

Modifications and adaptations of postures to work with injury and different kinds of bodies

Anatomy, physiology and alignment of postures

Yoga history, philosophy and how it relates to modern day yoga and life in general

Teaching Mysore-style

Developing basic skills and understanding required for effective teaching.
Eg listening, observation, communication skills

Principles of stretching—understanding different stretching and releasing techniques and working with practical application

Developing pranayama practice and learning to teach it to others

Developing a regular practice of Shatkarmas Eg. Nauli and jala neti

Introduction to other yoga styles

Reading yogic texts and discussion of their meanings

Yoga nidra benefits and practice

Lesson and course planning and delivery of sessions to class sizes from individuals to large groups

Business skills -Setting up and running classes including promotion through the web and other sources


The applicant will already have a regular yoga practice (this does not need to be Ashtanga) and a passion to share their joy of yoga with others. They will have been practicing yoga regularly for a minimum of 2 years.
On returning the completed application form the applicant will be contacted within 10 days to arrange an interview (if necessary) by phone, Skype or in person. A deposit of £600 will be required on acceptance to secure your place.


The course will be comprised of 180 contact hours and at least 20 non–contact hours of homework, reading, research and teaching practice
There are a minumum of 10 places and maximum of 20
You will be required to attend all teaching days to qualify for the certificate, unless there is a good reason for absence.
All tasks should be completed by the end of the course
Brian Cooper will be teaching on two of the modules.
