Ashtanga Yoga in the Norwegian mountains

A yoga retreat in the heart of Fjord Norway.

There will be free pick-ups at Mjølfjell station throughout the day for people wishing to spend the whole Friday in the mountains. Last free pick-up waiting at Mjølfjell station at 19:00

We start Friday night with an introduction to this 10 hours workshop and will continue on Saturday and Sunday morning for another 2+2 hours workshop each day.



We tried to make the retreat as affordable as possible working with Norwegian prices.

Full Description

In 2013, I set out on a journey. I wanted to find something, I just didn't know what. The search eventually led me to the sub-continent, the home of yoga. I had attended yoga classes at home, but I discovered something in Monica’s beautiful home in Auroville, that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I got hooked on the Mysore way of practicing Ashtanga Yoga.

Returning to the West Coast of Norway, I rediscovered the beauty of my home and the idea came to me of putting my two passions together and sharing this with you.

Monica* will travel from India to teach in the mountains of Western Norway on the doorstep of beautiful Norwegian fjords, for a long summer weekend in August.

We have designed a 10 hours workshop for those new or wishing to return to Ashtanga yoga. Participants will be taught the fundamentals to start and develop a daily (or near-daily) Ashtanga practice if they so choose.

Close attention will be paid to establish a solid foundation for practice – proper breathing technique, correct visual focus, and maintenance of the core energy locks.

All are welcome – whether you've practiced Ashtanga yoga before or come as a beginner.

In between the sessions, you will find peace of mind in the stunning natural surroundings of Mjølfjell. There will also be time to bond with Monica through down-to-earth conversations about life and yoga. New friends will become old friends while cooling off in the pool or a bubbling mountain stream. On colder days, warm up in the sauna or wood fired hot tub.

*Monica Marinoni received Guruji and Sharath's blessings and authorization to teach yoga. She has also received the Authorization Level II to teach up to Full Intermediate Series, and is currently studying Advanced A or the 3rd series of the Ashtanga yoga system with Sri Sharath at the KPJAYI in Mysore. With deep gratitude and respect, she shares the teachings as she has been taught by them.
