One of the easiest, yet most overlooked ways to improve our physical, mental and emotional health is through the conscious control of the breath. Breathing deeply has many benefits such as lowering blood pressure, improving digestion and decreasing anxiety. Yet, the average person only uses about 1/3 of their lung capacity.
Breathing is the foundation for yoga and meditation practices, and in this workshop we’ll use these tools to learn about the physical, mental and emotional healing powers of the breath. We’ll dive into the fundamentals and anatomy of how to better our breath and increase our lung capacity and experience breathing techniques that can energize, calm and/or relax our mind and body. The workshop will include some gentle movement, but no yoga experience is needed.
