Most Yoga classes only teach a fraction of what Yoga has to offer. Physical postures are an important foundation to good health and well being but ultimately, they are designed to help prepare the body and mind for more subtle practices. I came into Yoga through Meditation so I discovered the benefits of subtle practice long before I discovered postures. Subtle practices include
Using the breath as a way of connecting to the energy field that makes up the subtle body and learning how to work with it.
Using hand and body gestures (Mudras) to manipulate energy or Prana
Using locks (Bandhas) to contain and direct energy
Yoga philosophy from the famous texts Patanjali's Yoga Sutras and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika.
Links between Ayurveda and Yoga
and a lot more.
The BWY Foundation course is ideal if you want to go on to train as a BWY Yoga teacher. The BWY offers the highest qualification in the country and is nationally recognised.
