"Physical inactivity is the strongest predictor of unsuccessful aging." according to University of Florida research on aging. Sitting is dangerous to your health in many ways and as a society we all sit too much. The time has come for you to learn how to sit and be healthy; how to stand to gain strength and energy; and how to move so you get to the root of your problems.
Janet Rae Humphrey, E-RYT, is an experienced registered yoga teacher with extensive training in teaching seniors, therapeutic yoga, mindfulness and the brain. She works in senior living centers and has taught in a rehabilitation hospital. With a background in medical research she brings a wealth of information on yoga and health conditions into the chair yoga practice. She is experienced in working with individuals who have fibromyalgia, arthritis, high and low blood pressure, joint replacements, back pain, sciatica, joint instabilities, stroke recovery, pain, depression, anxiety, stress and other medical conditions.
During the class you will learn different methods of breathing, meditation and yoga postures. In October Janet will be publishing a 200-page book, Age Without Limits that will have pictures and instructions for postures for different parts of the body.
People who range in age from 70 to 95 who have practiced yoga with Janet for the last three years show significant improvement in their strength, balance and ability to walk unassisted.
