Meditation can help one achieve a deep sense of peace and relaxation as it teaches us to be present – here and now. The common thought that meditation is about controlling the mind is not true. Rather, meditation is about not letting the mind control you. It helps the practitioner achieve a greater sense of awareness and introspection. More compelling than that, research now shows that 8 weeks of meditation rebuilds the brain’s gray matter. See the following article for more information:


Many people meditate to achieve a greater sense of spiritual awareness and understanding of their professed religion, but it can be practiced by anyone regardless of their religious beliefs and background. In this 8 week course, you will learn various pranayama (breathing techniques), mudras (hand gestures), in addition to a different meditation each week. The objective is to use the pranayama, mudra and meditation of the week daily until we meet again the next week. It is important to leave your preconceived notions of meditation behind you, keep an open mind, and be willing to learn the art of meditation.
