Deep Body De-stress: Emotional Release Through Embodied Awareness, Bath

In this afternoon workshop, we will be exploring how we can create safety, softness and connection into our deep core – the psoas muscle and belly. We can have mixed relationships with our bellies, but exploring and nourishing this central region of our bodies can have profound ripples outwards to the whole of our bodies and minds.

Full Description

In this afternoon workshop, we will be exploring how we can create safety, softness and connection into our deep core – the psoas muscle and belly. We can have mixed relationships with our bellies, but exploring and nourishing this central region of our bodies can have profound ripples outwards to the whole of our bodies and minds. At the heart of this 'core' is the psoas muscle – the only one to connect top and bottom body – where we express our protective responses by curling in around our belly and heart. Add to this modern postural habits of chair-sitting and hunching and we can get stuck in a pattern of physical collapse. Opening up through the belly and psoas needs embodied awareness, fluidity and moving through patterns that meet stress and trauma with kind attention; giving them the opportunity to be heard and move through.

In this workshop, we will not only explore how to physically move from the abdomen to support posture intelligently, but also to listen to the deep nervous system tissue here and kindly listen to what we really need from our practice.

Suitable for all levels and a great complement to a more dynamic practice.

This workshop is a good complement for teachers before the Teaching Yoga for Stress and Burnout – One Day Teachers' Workshop the following day.
