Deepen your backbends workshop
We will first prepare with relaxing the body and mind through sitting and pranayama practices. Followed by heating practices to warm the body preparing the shoulders and opening the quadriceps. We will progress through simple backbends to intermediate level applying the same principles throughout.

Backbends are an integral part of yoga practice, they improve posture by opening up the shoulders and chest, they strengthen and increase flexibility in the back.
Backbends also stimulate the heart and and brain to increase our wellbeing and help us to develop greater courage and trust in ourselves by taking us to our physical and emotional edge. This workshop explores how to work in back bends safely to create space in the lower back, to prepare our shoulders and hips first through standing pose sequences, bandhas and breath. We will explore how to build backbends from a basic level and apply the same principles in deeper more challenging poses. We will also look at how we work towards dropping back from standing to the wall or floor.
