I am holding my Discover Yoga and Italy Retreat at Il Borghino for the second year in a row because well, it's just divine. This ancient walled city of Lucca in Tuscany is a beautiful part of Italy. The retreat venue, Il Borghino is set in the Tuscan hills and has an outdoor, salt water pool with a view I am addicted to. The morning yoga classes I teach are Vinyasa yoga, with emphasis on alignment, breathing and being comfortable in the movements of each pose. My teaching experience covers a person who is a complete beginner to advanced yoga practioners. and the afternoon yoga classes are restorative and the focus is on being supported in the yoga poses with the use of props and feeling rested with the use of breathing and meditation techniques.
There is lots of free time during the day to go sightseeing either in Lucca or further afield in Pisa or Florence. If relaxation is your reason for this retreat then this free time can be spent at Il Borghino and soaking in the pool or the Turkish sauna, optional extras (not inc. in the price) like massage and other holistic treatments, or walking around the wonderful property.
We spend one of the days at the Cinque Terra on the coast of Tuscany (I highly recommend this day trip!) and this is where you see the multi-coloured splendour of these Italian villages, entry is included in the price however transport cost is not.
One evening we all go out to a local restaurant to see the nightlife of Tuscany and one of my favourite villages is the Pietra Santa - a little artist's village a bus ride away from Il Borghino.
The last night of the retreat we have a "Pizza and Prosecco" night in the alfresco dinning area and relax with conversation and laughter. It doesn't get much more idyllic than this in my opinion. Bellissimo!
