Type of Event
- Teacher Training
Starts March 13, 2015. Weekend program schedule easily accommodates those who work full-time.
The cost of the program is $3,500 but if you enroll before the end of Febuary 2015, you will receive $200 off this price. Compared to many 200 Hour Training programs this is very reasonable, as you can pay up to $4,000 for the same amount of hours at different studios. The other great bonus is that at other studios, there can be 25-30 students (or more) and the individual attention or student-teacher ratio is very low. At Earth Yoga we pride ourselves on the fact that YTT co-leads will give an hour a week to each student who is assigned to them. Our teachers and admin staff are attentive, warm and nurturing and without exception, will always be available to support and give advice to our trainees.
The 200-hour Teacher Training at EARTH YOGA NYC strives to create modern teachers through the lens of traditional disciplines. We stay connected to the past while living our yoga in the present moment. Using the physical practice as a starting point, a unique path for each of us is revealed when we focus on the merging of mind, body, and spirit. Learn to love and understand your practice and gain real-life tools to make yoga into a successful career in a competitive economy, or simply deepen your practice in a uniquely profound way.
Sought-after teachers (and co-leaders of the program) Adrian Molina, Will Schneider & Yanti Amos will emphasize mindfulness, alignment, the art of adjusting, intentional teaching, & living your philosophy.
While combining the wisdom, works and practices of the yogic arts with the modern interests of fitness, health & self-awareness, you will also be honing specific management & leadership skills so that working one-on-one with clients, leading group classes & negotiating a job position becomes second nature. In addition to learning theory you will also learn how to apply the academic aspects to real, relevant yoga teaching situations.
Our all-star supporting faculty, including Dennis Hunter, Julia Pearring, Kristin Leal, Nixa de Bellis & Jill Camera, was handpicked for their world-class teaching skills and their generosity of spirit. From sequencing, physical and verbal adjustments, & the science & anatomy of yoga, to cultivating a meditation practice & understanding the Bhagavad Gita, be prepared for a transformative ride! You’ll be nurtured along the path of mastering life, through developing both asana and esoterics. And you’ll come away with applicable, accessible expertise in communication, leadership and teamwork.
The EARTH YOGA NYC teacher training will help you find your voice and then guide it gently towards ultimate self-expression. Training March 13th, 2015.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will I get tired from all that asana practice during the training?
While you will get a lot of asana practice, the amount of physical practice will not be disproportionate. We take breaks and fill our teaching time with looking at asana and breaking them down. There is a good mix and balance of analysis, discussion, theory and practice.
What if I don't want to teach but simply want to deepen my practice?
The program definitely teaches you to be a teacher and you will be qualified to teach at the end of the training. However, teacher trainings are also filled with students who love the discipline and want to know much more than what they will get in an ordinary class. There is nothing like delving deeply into a subject- you could liken it to full immersion when you are learning French. The best way is to surround yourself with native French speakers and to be forced to find your words in French. You will be supported and guided to the level you need, by master level teachers who love teaching and have an incredible generosity of spirit and want you to "get it". You don't have to teach "French" in the end but you will have the tools to do so if you change your mind- and you will have learned a lot about the culture and will know a lot about the way the French view the world. And you may well discover your niche/favorite area.
I'm not sure I need to do a teacher training if all I really need is a series of workshops.
That might be so, but the wonderful thing about teacher trainings is that you learn not just about the mastery of a subject but you hone skills you can use in any area of your life. You will learn about yourself and how to lead. You will learn how to learn most effectively. Are you auditory or visual? Do you need to write things down in order to understand them? Do you know how to express yourself with an economy of words? Do you know how to command an audience? The skills you learn are not just about yoga as subject matter. Yoga teacher training is a path of self-discovery which involves, among other things, in fine-tuning life skills which will lead you to be the best version of yourself you can possibly be. And you'll make great friendships.
