Effort and Ease Workshop
Experience the profound effect of balancing effort and ease in every asana.
In every practice there is effort but too much effort and you snap. There is also always ease, but too much ease and you’re a wet noodle. It takes strength and flexibility to experience an effective practice.

In this workshop we'll explore specific articulation of the joints and placement of the bones to create a strong foundation. Applying effort to shape the body from the inside through the ease of of our breath. At the same time, once the foundation has been established, we'll discover the profound effects of ease and grace. A strong foundation allows the body to be free.
We’ll explore reciprocal inhibition finding how the body autonomically applies effort and ease, then move into co-activation of secondary and tertiary muscles in several asana to develop muscles and finally we'll ease into facilitated stretches.
Applying the principles of effort and ease to a fluid warm-up, a powerful strength building flow, and a deep active stretch you'll discover what it feels like to be strong, calm and focused. Its the best part of yoga!
About Mark: Mark has been studying and practicing yoga for over 20 years and is registered with the Yoga Alliance as E-RYT200. Mark’s particular approach to the practice of yoga is a confluence of different movement disciplines including: Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais Method and Viewpoints as well as Intuitive Dance Rhythms, Tai Chi and Qi Gong. His colleagues describe him as a gifted teacher and a positively infectious human being who’s practice is intuitive, uplifting and challenging as well as soothing and calm.
