There will be twice daily yoga sessions incorporating the many tools of yoga – pranayama, meditation, relaxation and asana – allowing ourselves to connect with our true nature, beyond the body and beyond the mind This week will give students the opportunity to practice yoga in an environment immersed in nature. Each individual will have the opportunity to practice at his/hers own level, making the week suitable for students of different abilities and those who may have practiced other yoga disciplines. Please note: although all level of experience are welcome, this retreat is not for absolute beginners. There will be a maximun of 16 people on the retreat giving you a boutique experience with the opportunity for personal attention to work on various aspects of the practice.
The Yoga Rancho, crafted from native teak in the Costa Rican tradition, takes full advantage of Costa Rica’s year-round, open-air climate and its position overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Featuring sweeping panoramic views, this stunning and impressive 50-foot tall structure is an absolutely perfect place to practice
The classes will be rooted in classical Hatha Raja Yoga as passed in authentic tradition by Sri Dharma Mittra. Working from the ground up by establishing a strong foundation through the application of Pada and Hasta Bandha encourages more subtle body awareness and attention to alignment. By using the breath, our most intimate and available teacher, to ground or centre down we can find greater elongation of the spine as we work with deep twists and hip openers. This frees up the shoulder girdle which leads to greater stability as we work towards inversions.
The more I study anatomy and the vehicle that is the human body the more I appreciate the perfect and complete system that yoga provides to release tension from the body and to discover our own truth.
