2 classes of Iyengar yoga each day. Classes include attendance within a weekend workshop titled "Learning from the earth element: Sequencing practice for asana development". Private room in a fully equipped apartment attached to The Hervey Bay School of Yoga.
Type of Event
Students are allocated classes from within the general timetable of classes in the school which allows students of all levels to attend the retreat. Classes in the evenings will either be at 5.15pm or 7pm according to a students level of experience.
Cost includes 22 hours of yoga lessons; 6 nights accommodation and attendance at a public presentation on the subject material of "Embrace the universal through the particular" by Polly Realf.
Retreat classes will hold the focus of "Embrace the universal within the particular" to grow understanding of Samyama. The process of learning from experience: wisdom arising from an integrated experience of self.
All students on retreat will attend some classes in common irrespective of levels of experience as these classes will facilitate inquiry about our intentions of practice. The aim of these sessions is to bring coherence between what we think we are doing as yoga students and what we are actually demonstrating by our actions. There will be 3 occasions during the week whereby students on retreat attend different classes according to their level of experience. These classes embrace the capacity of yogasana to change us and encourage students with competence in more complex asana to explore the texture of their practice within the framework of the universal and the particular.
The weekend workshop and public lecture by Polly Realf on the Saturday night will provide students with an opportunity to consider Iyengar Yoga methodology pertaining to the particulars (alignment, precision etc) and Yoga epistemology.
