Thai Yoga Massage is a combination of massage, acupressure and assisted stretching from Thailand, developed under the influence of traditional healing systems from India, China and some other Southeast Asian cultures. It has powerful beneficial effects on the whole body-mind complex of a recipient.
This workshop will demonstrate Thai Yoga Massage techniques utilizing deep stretches and application of fairly strong pressure. The giver uses their hands, forearms, elbows, knees, shins, and feet, and often leads the recipient into positions that are somewhat "acrobatic" in nature.
Whether you are a massage therapist or not, are an enthusiast of wellness, yoga etc. or not, these Thai Yoga Massage techniques will enable you to give your partner, friends or family a short but very invigorating massage, with benefits similar to those of a yoga asana session (Thai Yoga Massage is often called "lazy yoga" or "yoga done to another").
You will be given a demonstration, step by step instructions and an opportunity to practice right away on the people around you.
You will be guided by two hosts:
Seb is a certified Thai massage therapist practicing and teaching in Tokyo.
Naoko is a certified remedial therapy specialist running a clinic in Tokyo.
Date: Saturday, 18th May
Location: Studio Worcle Harajuku
Time: (9.40am open)
10:00am - 4:00pm workshop (break 1pm - 2pm)

What to bring:
- An open mind and willingness to learn something new and fun.
- Comfortable clothes that do not restrict movement, without buttons or other elements that might hurt the skin. A t-shirt or blouse and yoga pants or trousers will do. Knees covered, please. No oils will be used, so no risk of damaging your clothes.

*** Floor massage mats / blankets will be provided.
Is this a workshop for you?
Due to their more intense nature and being demonstrated outside a full training course, these techniques will not be suitable for giving or receiving by pregnant women; people suffering from serious orthopedic issues, hypertension, diabetes, certain chronic conditions; also contraindicated if you have had a recent surgery or transplant; have fractured or broken bones, torn muscles, fever, flu, inflammation.
If in doubt, please contact us to clarify.
If you have never been exposed to physical yoga etc. or any other form of exercise, you may need to work a little bit harder during the workshop, but you are very welcome - as long as the conditions listed above don't apply to you and you are not extremely fatigued, all will be good and fun!
This workshop may also be seen as a teaser to explore the art of Thai Yoga Massage (not only its "acrobatic" aspect) further. Full practitioner training courses as well as workshops related to other healing modalities are being prepared.
