Finding Ease Upside Down - inversions workshop
In this inversions workshop we will explore head and shoulder balance to help students find ease in these poses and ways to sustain them.
Type of Event
Saturday 13th October
First we will work to unite body and mind through focused intention as we move through sitting, simple pranayama and asanas to warm and prepare the body, adhering to Vijnana Yoga's 7 vital principles of practice of :
Relaxing the body, quietening the mind, focus through intent, breath, rooting, connecting and elongation with expansion.
In this inversions workshop we will explore head and shoulder balance to help students find ease in these poses and ways to sustain them. Once balance is stable, students can learn the variations that accompany these poses that increase the time spent upside down, to enable students to experience the benefits of this practice. If you are not yet ready to balance on your head we will show students how to prepare the shoulder girdle through handstand and elbow balance floor based preparations. There will be the opportunity of using our head balance chairs to experience the pose safely and to understand alignment. We will also explore going up into shoulderstand and the variations that accompany it.
