In this retreat we will connect to the qualities of the 5 elements, namely wood, fire, earth, metal and water to explore and balance them. This will guide us to more Stability, Flexibility, Awareness, Lightness, Freedom and Joy of Life.
As with Yin and Yang, the five elements are constantly pursuing harmonious relationships with each other. They rely on each other for their existence and management. If one element is weak or dominant, then all the others will also be affected. All things in the universe such as seasons, climates, emotions and internal organs correspond to one of the elements.
You will learn about the 5 elements, the basics of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), the main meridians in the body, trigger points to release tension and stress, specific yoga poses for each meridian corresponding to an organ, and Chi Gung exercises to develop internal force also called Chi or Prana.
Miriam has developed these unique yoga practices to balance the 5 elements in the body, giving you a chance to gain a deeper understanding of each element, the functions and organs that are connected with it, as well as its emotional qualities. Specific movements that have balancing or reinforcing effects will also be woven into the practice.
Connect to your body and breath, restore your spirit, be in the beauty of nature, swim in the sea, eat delicious foods, practice yoga and sooth the mind with mindful meditation practices. Relax in the moment!
This is your opportunity to embark on four days of tranquility aimed at helping you achieve inner peace, wellness and joy like you’ve never experienced before. Do something just for yourself this year, rediscover a new you!
Yoga is a philosophy and a practice which allows us to unite the body, mind and spirit. No matter what your background, body shape or level of fitness yoga can help you find a state of harmony as well as improve your physical condition.
“Vinyasa” means “linking” which in this context means that the poses are linked together in a flowing sequence. The movement is linked with the breath and the mind, body, and spirit are linked as a whole. It is a creative and intelligent flow style with an emphasis on alignment and safety.
The atmosphere created in class is focused, meditative and joyful. Vinyasa Flow is perfectly suited to all levels of practice so no matter where you start it is always possible to make your body feel and move better. This flow style is mostly a Yang practice, breath and movement flow in harmony. Ujjayi breathing is the soul of this flowing motion.
Yin Yoga the gentle path to inner balance. Experience deep immersion and letting go by holding a posture for 3-8 minutes. Direct your attention inward, observe your thoughts, and be present. Breath, meditation and posture merge into a deep, liberating, and wholesome yoga practice.
We stay at Tallow Beach Houses, a private 30 acre sanctuary where the beach and the bush come together on the edge of the National Park. Situated halfway between the famous Byron Bay lighthouse and Broken Head with 630 meters of beachfront, uncrowded waves, the friendly wildlife, a tranquil lake and a bicycle track into Byron township complete the scene.
Byron Bay is situated on the most easterly point of Australia and is known for its deep connection to nature, culture and community. Tourists, travellers and yogis have been making their way to Byron Bay for decades, eager to soak in the golden sunshine, explore the pristine beaches and national parks and experience a taste of the cultural diversity and nomadic ‘free spirited’ culture that this region is so acclaimed for.
Byron Bay is two hours south of Brisbane Airport or one hour south of Gold Coast airport. Shuttle buses and regular buses make trips to and from these airports numerous times each day.
Accommodation is in 2 or 3-bedroom private beachfront cottages situated within a nature reserve and natural bush setting. Self-contained and secluded, each cottage has its own private kitchen/dining/living space and large undercover deck. Some cottages overlook the lake and the beach is just 60 meters away so you can enjoy a great night’s sleep to the hypnotic sound of the ocean.
