Flow Yoga and Meditation Retreat with Blanche Mulholland.

We are delighted to be hosting Blanche as a teacher on this retreat in June. Guests will be treated to expert teaching with attention to detail and integrity under the careful guidance of Blanche Mulholland, and assisted by Spiros Koukoulos.

Check in is any time after 5pm on Sunday the 28th, and guests usually leave in time to catch either the 7.45am bus to Lisbon or 9am buses to either Lisbon or Porto.

Full Description

On this week long retreat we will explore fluidity in our movements, using our yoga practice to develop greater ease and freedom in the body and mind.

The morning sequences will be flowing and dynamic, to open up the energy channels in the body and awaken the spine. We will synchronise breath and movement (Vinyasa), exploring both traditional form and a more de-constructed approach to the postures.

The evening sessions will lead naturally towards meditation; an opportunity to relax and unwind tensions from the body so the mind can rest in stillness. Mindfulness Meditation will be taught in creative ways, to facilitate a deeper journey into our yoga practice so we can use it as a way of focussing the mind and preparing the body for meditation, as well as using the postures as a form of moving meditation.

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali outline the 8 limbs of yoga as a path that moves ever closer towards a point of stillness in preparation for meditation. Working with asana, breathwork and deep relaxation, as well as looking at some of the yoga philosophy, we will explore moving towards this essence of Yoga as outlined in the ancient texts.

Additionally we will have some fun mid-week with a Partner Yoga workshop and a Shiatsu Introductory workshop (basic acupressure massage), to release stress and connect with each other.

This retreat is suitable for beginners as well as those who wish to dive a little more deeply into their yoga and meditation practice. Blanche will be assisted on this retreat by her partner Spiros.

Apart from yoga, guests can walk through the forest to the reservoir for refreshing and very private afternoon swimming, walk through the trees on the many forest tracks, take a stroll to the village for a taste of traditional Portugal, relax in our shady hammocks with a book form our yoga library and enjoy the special treat of a hot tub evening under the stars at the end of the week.
