This 8 week series will help students acquire the tools necessary to tackle any yoga class safely and skillfully!
Special emphasis will be placed on alignment as we learn the best way to get into and out of poses for your body, so that everyone will feel safe and confident in class. Throughout the series, classes will build upon each other so that we can explore all genres of yoga poses including standing, hip-openers, baby backbends, twists, forward folds, hand balances, and inversions. Props and modifications will be employed so that people of all abilities will be able to find joyful expression in each pose. No flexibility is required! In addition to asana (the physical postures), we will also learn simple breathing techniques for yoga, and introduce basic yoga philosophy through a heart centered theme. Expect a physically invigorating and internally restoring practice each week!
This series is appropriate for those:
• New to yoga or new to alignment based hatha yoga
• Desiring a therapeutic or slower approach to their practice
• With questions about what yoga is all about!
