Throughout our lives we are presented with opportunities for growth. These are chances to learn, experience, teach, love, and expand ourselves. Everything in your past has led you to this moment. Your journey has already begun.
In a world that places so much emphasis on destination and doing, yoga offers us a unique chance to step away from that paradigm. We are granted this opportunity to enjoy the ride, and in the process learn how to simply BE. FJY’s 2014-15 yoga teacher training is a new chapter, perhaps one of the most exciting and memorable in the story of your life.
During this adventure we will explore in depth over 50 yoga poses, called Asanas, and their musculoskeletal and energetic alignment principles. Learn to both exercise and teach these values in your home practice and with your students.
Philosophies of yoga are both fascinating and accessible. We will discuss and review Chakra theory as it pertains to yoga and science. The 8 limbs and 6 branches of yoga will be explained and explored. Challenging and intriguing questions will be posed and answered as we learn and experience basic Ayurvedic principles.
Among so many other things, yoga is about community (Sangha). The relationships you develop and nurture throughout the training mark an open doorway that leads to many more beautiful, blossoming friendships. Accountability and encouragement abound in full when you surround yourself with other like-minded souls. Personal dialogue with course leaders as well as peer support will help facilitate your journey to embrace Yoga as a personal lifestyle. As a team effort, Freedom Journey Yoga has collaborated with Rebecca Thurmond (E-RYT 200, RYT 500 Yoga Selah) and Jill Ray (Certified Holistic Life Coach, Certified Energetic Healing Practitioner) to bring to you the most comprehensive, well rounded system so that you can develop your own individual true-to-self approach.
Yoga Alliance has laid out standards for RYS’s (Registered Yoga Schools) at the 200-HR level. As a member of Yoga Alliance, we will meet for a total of 180 ‘contact hours’ with the remaining 20 hours to be divided up into home explorations. This, along with the time allotted between sessions, will help you to assimilate what are learning in a fashion that helps to define and highlight your unique qualities and talents. Find your voice. This is your journey.
