Full Description

Saturdays, once a month, 1:00pm-2:00pm. Led by Becky Eschenroeder, RYT-200.

This class is intended to share the gift of yoga with adults with intellectual disabilities, with specific adaptations for Down Syndrome. Yoga practitioners of all levels and abilities are invited to join this lovely opportunity to share an hour of their practice. Invite freedom into your hearts and minds as you connect breath with movement and intention. Becky will lead you though safe and uplifting stretching and breathing with only one requirement…that you smile. Feel free and inspired as you flow, and leave with a sense of contentment and light. Focus for this class will be FUN!

When Sara Noftsinger, a Special Olympic champion swimmer and diabetic, finished her first yoga class, she was asked her how she felt, following practice. She simply responded: “Freedom.”

The teacher from that day, Becky Eschenroeder, has created a series of classes at Project Yoga Richmond especially for Sara and her began in March of 2013. Becky is a Registered Yoga Teacher and an elementary school teacher with a degree in psychology and experience volunteering with Special Olympics.
