Fundamental Postures - Alignment Workshop
Key alignment of standing postures and foundation backbends

In this workshop, we will be working with some of the foundation yoga asanas that you will find in most yoga practices. We will explore poses like downward dog, standing poses, warrior poses and basic backbends. Foundation poses form the base to learning intermediate and advance postures. If you know them well, they open a clearer pathway to discovering these other poses
The purpose of this workshop is to review these poses and to provide some clarity or some refinement into the mechanics, subtlety and energetics of these asanas so that they begin to feel stronger and more comfortable.
This workshop is for you if you are struggling to ‘feel’ a particular pose, experience discomfort or wish to refine your understanding of some poses. It is suitable for both beginners and experienced practitioners. We will begin with a practice, holding poses to work through alignment cues. We will also talk about the energetics of the pose (the common question of “where should I feel this” or “what should I engage” or just the more subtle feelings) In some poses, we will work in pairs to help each other. Having the opportunity to watch each other will further enhance our understanding of the work.
