Featuring live music from our very special guests, Anne Malone, Craig Pruess, Russell Stone and Tom

Anne Malone

Anne’s love of music, yoga and meditation has led her to learn and work with many wonderful teachers. Anne’s Hang playing has been embraced by the yoga community, and is a favourite with Shiva Rea, Claire Missingham and Jai Uttal. She’s written and produced a variety of cds, featuring in iTunes top 10 and NME Awards, and has been commissioned by BBC, Theatre Lab and alivEmotion to name just a few.

“Anne is an extraordinary sound explorer and healer. Her musical journeys on the Hang are incredible soundscapes for the yoga of life” Shiva Rea

At-Ma

World music fusion trio At-Ma is a dynamic collaboration between vocalist/composer Russell Stone, multi-instrumentalist composer and producer Craig Pruess and dynamic tabla player Tom Simenauer. Individual artist bios are provided below.

"The bliss and bubbling joy is tangible, as the heartfelt melodies develop, simmer, explode or caress. Imagine Indian ragas and talas (Indian rhythm cycles), weaving around soulful vocal lullabys and sitar improvisations, and then switching gears to powerful chants and spacey trumpet "

Craig Pruess (Sitar, harmonium and more)

A composer, musician, arranger and gold & platinum record producer who has produced and arranged for Sir Cliff Richard, Massive Attack, Katie Melua, Manic Street Preachers and many more, and has created scores for many well known films and TV shows. Craig has performed sitar for Prince Charles, the Dalai Lama and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. He is also a founder and CEO of the Ganda Foundation and world music co-ordinator with the World Peace One movement.

Russell Stone (Vocals)

A highly talented singer, songwriter, psychotherapist and nada yoga teacher. For Russell, humanity and spirituality lie at the heart of all these three disciplines. As a vocalist he worked alongside a wide variety of artistes including Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Adam Ant, Tony Bennett, Twisted Sister, Cliff Richard and Right Said Fred. He also co-wrote and performed 'We Do It', a worldwide hit in 1977.

Tom Simenauer (Tabla Drums)

Tom plays tabla, percussion and sings interesting overtone chanting with At-Ma. He studied tabla with the amazing master Shib Shankar Ray. Tom is also a member of the Celtic fusion band Dragonsfly, and has composed, produced and engineered his own album ‘Human Grace’. Tom joined us for the first Ganapati Groove and we can assure you that he is both an excellent musician and a superb sound engineer.

What is Bhakti Yoga?

Bhakti is an important yoga practice. The word bhakti simply means an attitude of devotion and is described in yoga philosophy books as one of the fastest ways of attaining enlightenment as it does not involve complicated practices. Bhakti practices are very simple and usually are all about mantra repetition, singing, dancing, feeding people, bringing the community together and living a life that honours the needs of all beings animate or inanimate. In the West we have very much connected with the ‘physical’ exercises of yoga and have barely even begun to explore some of these deeper aspects. However, bhakti yoga is slowly starting to gain popularity in the UK and Ganapati Groove is proud to be part of this movement.
