This class is taught by the woman who pioneered chair yoga. She is currently working with the Integral Yoga institute in NYC and will you will be certified through the Institute for this excellent Yoga Therapy class.

The Gentle and Chair Teacher Training provides a solid foundation for Yoga instructors so that they will know how to adapt basic Yoga asanas for those students who may be limited in movement due to age, illness, disability or injury.
By utilizing chairs, straps, bolsters, blocks, blankets, the wall and gentle hands-on assists, you will learn how to modify traditional Yoga postures as well as create Yoga classes designed for specific populations and conditions such as Alzeheimers, strokes, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, cancer, spinal cord injuries, obesity, visual impairment, This course prepares you to adapt the traditional Yoga class to students of any age, shape, size, ability or disability, enabling students to enjoy the Hatha Yoga experience in a safe and comfortable environment.
The bulk of the training focuses on modifying and adapting asanas to make them accessible for everyone. It will also include deepening your experience through meditation, Yoga Nidra, pranayama and Raja Yoga. It will include a review of anatomy and physiology as it relates to specific conditions. Your study will conclude with an in-depth exploration of one specific physical condition of your choice, as well as a teaching practicum. You will be required to attend and observe several Chair and Gentle Yoga classes.
