Full Description

This will be an evening of rhythm, enlightenment and inspiration from some of Australia and Africa’s most beautiful and original voices! These artists are uniting for an evening to raise funds for Guinea's health and yoga future. From yoga chanting to African dance music, the evening will weave a spell and reach into your heart. All of these musicians are one of a kind: deeply original voices in this world. Here is our great line-up:

Keyim Ba – The explosive Guinean band, the best drumming you’ll ever hear, you can't help but dance
Afro Kidz – The children’s Guinean dance troupe dancing with pure joy
Vanessa Forbes – The blissful voice of devotional folk to open the heart
Appleonia – A unique Australian talent, playing her own brand of "Indie mystic pop"
Nadav Kahn – Interweaving traditional Kabbalistic and Sanskrit chants with original songs, with his beautiful voice
Michael Watsu – World meditation teacher will lead a healing meditation

Mardi has been involvemented with Guinea since 2000. It is time for her to move there to do what she does best: teach yoga, especially for at-risk groups.

The music of the kora — the 21-string harp —pulled Mardi to Guinea in 2000. While economically the world’s 13th poorest country, Guinea is a first-class artistic mecca for virtuosity in music and dance. Mardi’s life has been fully committed to helping her friends to survive and thrive there ever since. Guineans are amazing! But she can no longer do it alone.

Your help is needed to enable her to introduce yoga and to expand the work that her NGO, EcoGuinea is doing. There are teams of Guinean volunteers working within their own neighborhoods, cleaning hospitals and working to improve the most basic of health issues: proper sanitation. In Guinea, the absence of sanitary waste disposal and basic health care is not just inconvenient; it can and will kill you!

EcoGuinea seeks to drastically improve quality of life through low-cost, proven and practical eco technologies, and our first big project will be to build and install 50 durable composting toilets. We are seeking basic seed money of $30,000 or more, to be able to soar!
