Full Description

The ancient healing traditions of India and China have a similar vision of the human body as an energetic system of channels. In both traditions, when the channels (or nadis) are infused with energy, prana or Qi, this can potentiate a process of mental and physical healing and spiritual transformation. While there are many parallels between how yoga and acupuncture engage with the energetic system of the body, there are also enormous differences between them.

Join Samantha Ostergaard as she presents key concepts in the healing mechanisms of acupuncture and yoga, highlighting some ways these therapeutic systems intersect and differ from each other. She will bring insights from over 20 years as a student of yoga, 15 years as a student of Zen, and from her study and practice of Japanese and Korean acupuncture.

You will learn how yoga poses potentiate movement of energy or Qi in the acupuncture channels to relieve pain and increase overall health and well-being, and how to bring this understanding into your movements in your daily life so that you can experience these health benefits all the time.

Samantha Ostergaard is an acupuncturist, yoga instructor, and yoga therapist based in San Francisco. Samantha co-leads Zen & Yoga retreats locally and internationally with her husband, Zen teacher Robert Thomas.
