Full Description

Gopi has taken people to India for the last 7 years on yoga pilgrimages that have changed people’s lives in powerful ways.

The journeys with her take you off the tourist path, and into the undercurrent of India’s deep spirituality. Don’t miss this lifetime opportunity to go to the source of the most sacred river in this world, the Ganges. Yogis say this river descends from the heavenly realms into this worldly plain from high in the Himalayan Mountains. This sacred river springs from the snout of the Gangotri Glacier, from where Bhagirathi River originates, situated at a height of 13,200 ft.

Our journey will begin from Delhi to Haridwar by train. A paradise for nature-lovers, Haridwar presents kaleidoscope of Indian culture and civilization. Hari denotes God and Dwar implies door therefore Haridwar is also known as the ‘Gateway to God’. T

his heavenly place is an extremely popular religious end that welcomes individuals of different belief systems. Here we will stay for one night, at the Haveli Hari Ganga hotel, exploring the evening yoga, immersing ourselves in puja and rituals. The following day we travel by bus to Uttarkashi, which will be a 7-hr. bus ride allowing you to see the spectacular and breathtaking scenery of the Himalayan Mountains. We will spend 2 nights in Uttarkashi, resting and exchanging with the many pilgrims that pass through this sacred town.

The path continues by taking us even higher, 4-hrs north by bus to Gangotri, the origin and seat of the goddess Ganga. Thousands of pilgrim gather here each year in honor of the Goddess Ganga in order to bathe and purify the mind and body. The river is crystal clear and is said to have the power to wash away lifetimes of sin or karma.

We will stay in Gangotri for 2 nights to get acclimated to the elevation. Here we can rejuvenate our bodies with yoga and good food. Through sacred mantras and chanting, and visiting of temples, we will honor Lord Shiva and seek the blessing from sadhus, yogis and spiritualists who traverse the path of Truth.

Day 7 we then begin our trek towards the source of the Ganges, where the sacred river begins in the glaciers, stopping overnight at Chirbasa (10km from Gangotri). We will have people to carry your luggage, and tents or huts with warm bedding will be already set up at Chirbasa for pilgrims who take this sacred hike. You will have to bring warm clothing as it will be cold in the evening and morning hours. Hot food will be offered to nourish the body.

Cut off from civilization you will be surrounded my Gods beauty and glory . This trip is like no other yoga trip run before. Daily Yoga will nurture and balance your body so that you can hike, but daily kirtan (sacred mantra chanting) will feed and uplift your soul. We will travel to inner domains of the heart of yoga. Our bodies and mind cleansed from the walking and hiking, only to receive the flowing grace of divinity in the pure waters the Ganges.

After reaching our destination Gomukh, the snout of the Gangotri Glacier and performing ritual/puja to honor Goddess Ganga, we will make our trek down the same way as we traversed up. Slowly going back to gangotri by foot and then uttrakasi and Haridwar by bus.

From Haridwar we travel by train to Vrindarvan.

Our yoga adventure will end in the Holy City of Vrindavan. This is a place of pilgrimage for Hindus worldwide as it is the birthplace of Lord Krishna. Vrindavan is home to over 5000 temples, large and small. Sacred chanting resonates throughout this town, and it is full of color, ritual, sound, and deep spiritual culture. _MG_2719It a place of mystical importance and can be said to be the “Heart Alter” of Bhakti yogis; those who follow the Path Of Devotion. Our stay in Vrindavan will be for 3 nights. While in Vrindavan we will spend one morning visiting Vrndavan Food for Life. This is an outstanding worldwide charity organization which helps very poor children, particularly girls, get an education so that the cycle of poverty may be broken. This is a great opportunity to be involved in some of the good work that is going on in a country where there is tremendous heart breaking poverty. In the evening we will visit some of the oldest temples in the area, experience yogis offering their hearts in adoration to the Deity, sacred forms of the Divine.

Our last adventure in Vrindarvan will take us to the sacred mountain call Govadhana Hill, where 1000 of pilgrims visit monthly, this is a place of great spiritual potency, the energy is surcharged with prayer and deep focus concentrated on the Divine. The experiences you will be exposed to are not one of a tourist, but a seeker of the Truth. Meeting living yogis whose minds are fixed on something far greater then the temporal. The impression will lie deep into ones consciousness, and will have the power to transform and awaken Divine love.
