Intro to Mysore (Self Practice)
Curious about our Mysore morning practice at Flow? We invite you to join Cory in this special workshop offered in a small group format for the perfect introduction to the Mysore style of practice. The workshop is limited to 12 people for personalized attention.
Type of Event
Sept 29, 30 & Oct 1 -- Sat & Sun morning 8:30 - 10 am; Mon 6:30 - 8:30 am
In the first three days of this workshop (Sat, Sun & Mon) you will be introduced to the essentials of the Mysore Asthanga system, practice the elements of the primary sequence with an emphasis on the foundational postures of Ashtanga and get a lot of personalized attention. After our three day introduction you will join our daily Mysore practice group (your choice, morning or evening) for the rest of the week where you will continue developing your practice under the guidance of experienced teachers. The week of Mysore following the workshop is included in the cost!
This workshop is appropriate for beginners and all students wishing to deepen their Ashtanga practice and who are curious about our Mysore program. You do not need to know Primary Series to attend. ALL are welcome!
WHAT IS MYSORE?
Mysore is an open-level class designed for everybody and every level. Expect lots of individual attention working with a dedicated teacher who knows your name and understands your practice – including your strengths and challenges. You will be surrounded an encouraging community that will inspire and motivate you.
Most Mysore students practice daily, and we ask students to commit to coming at least 3x/week. Mysore is a self-practice where you move through the Ashtanga series of poses as they were sequenced by Sri K Pattabhi Jois in India in the 1930s. The class is not led as a whole, instead, students are given personalized one-on-one instruction within a group setting. It is appropriate for all levels and all abilities – because it is taught directly to you! AND it is tailored to you, not the other way around — we use the excellent foundation provided by the Primary Series and adapt it to fit your body, mind and life!
The class structure is “open”, meaning that you can have a flexible start time! Enter the studio when you like and leave when your practice is complete within the scheduled time. Morning hours run from 6 – 9 am and evening from 5 – 7:30 pm. We encourage you to choose one or the other because consistency and routine are super important to sustaining your practice; however, if access to both works better for you (sometimes this is the case, for example, for those that travel frequently), you can request access to both for a slight increase in monthly rate.
