Introduction to Pranayama

In this workshop we will cover basic yogic philosophy, the eight limb theory, the relationship between Pranayama and Yoga and its interaction with the Nadis and Chakras. You will be guided through a preparatory asana practice and instructed on beginning pranayama techniques. A workshop syllabus and handouts will be provided.

In Sanskrit “Prana” is defined as breath, respiration, life, energy and strength, and “Ayama” is defined as stretched, expansion, regulation, prolongation and control.
Pranayama reduces stress, strengthens the immune system, calms the mind, improves focus concentration, increases lung capacity and removes toxins from the body.
