One of the benefits of practicing inversions is that the diaphragm, responsible for respirations, is forced to work harder as it moves against gravity when upside down. When one returns upright, breathing is significantly easier and one can access more nuances with greater east. Thus, many styles of yoga use inversions as a preparation for Pranayama Practice.

In this Master Class, we will explore inversions, focusing on Sirsasana (Head Stand) and Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand) for these postures are intended to be held for longer periods of time to receive the greatest benefit. Students will learn different variations according to their own needs as well as alternatives when not inverting. Following the postures, we will move into a balancing Pranayama practice that students can take home and continue practicing on their own.

Students should have at least one year of steady yoga practice to attend. If you are not currently inverting you are still welcome to attend and will receive alternative postures.
