Italy Pilgrimage Walk: The Road to Rome. Via Francigena
Reunite mind, body, and spirit by connecting with
like-minded individuals as you walk the Via Francigena.
Type of Event
Meet Spanish Steps in Orvieto, Italy at 10AM on Ocotber 23.
We end in Rome on October 29 at 12PM
All roads lead to Rome. This legendary path follows a route traced by Julius Caesar in 58 BC called “The Way of the Sun” connecting his northern provinces with Rome. Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims have traveled to Rome by way of the Via Francigena.
There were those seeking indulgences, merchants with goods to trade, soldiers defending their territories, emperors, diplomats, and adventurers. By walking this trail today you receive a “Testimonium”, a certificate
of accomplishment given to pilgrims who walk to Rome.
Over the course of the trip, you will begin to realize you are actually awakening your inner needs and opening your heart to new insights and possibilities.
With the surrounding beauty and help of our staff, you will learn reflective and resilient practices. Our time developing resilience will be through the use of dialogue with
other members, quiet reflection, journaling, daily group reflections, book reads, and using our experiences and the paths we hike as daily metaphors to develop gratitude, hope, awe, and joy.
We begin the day with an early morning reflective practice followed by a hearty breakfast before the day’s hiking adventure unfolds. We walk beautiful trails, averaging approximately 8 miles per day, accompanied by friendly and knowledgeable guides who will fill our days with a soulful blend of scenic hiking, historical insights, traditional experiences and wonderful food.
In the early evening, we will have the opportunity to meet for a social hour, daily debriefing and book club as we rejuvenate our mind, soul and trekking legs before enjoying lovely dinners. No matter what your level of fitness or resilience experience you are welcome on this active holiday.
