Chiavenna is a magical Renaissance town dating back to Roman times. It underwent intensive construction from the late 15th century. Its cobbled streets hold a vast array of original features such as frescoed walls and carved wooden doors, not to mention at least three fantastic gelaterias (ice cream parlours) and many family-run restaurants and cafés. There are also many good shops selling the kind of high-end clothing you would expect from a town so close to Milan. We are situated a short drive from the scenic lake Como and nearby there is a lovely open boggia (pool beneath a waterfall) to swim in. Late August temperatures in Chiavenna average 26 to 27 degrees Celsius!
