Opening the junk drawer of your heart and

Is your psyche like a junk drawer? Full of small snippets, unorganized jumbles of beliefs which you hold, things that stuck to you as you heard them while moving through life.

For instance: "Sarah never lives up to her potential." (3rd grade report card) - and now Sara, 35, feels she can NOT ever live up to her potential, is incapable of fulfilling her potential, is destined to try hard and never be enough.

There is no silver bullet for this, no pill, no panacea. But we do have the ability to be curious, to investigate the kernels of our reflexive beliefs and actions, to clean out the junk drawer and decide what is useful, what did we find and place purposefully in the drawer, and what was thrown in there, taking up space, crowding out important, valuable things?

Use your physical practice (yoga, painting, drawing, meditation) to unearth deep-seated, silently operating truths about yourself can be a powerful tool. These kernels which we believe are truths often unknowingly guide our feelings, emotional reactions, and expectations (four ourselves and others) in our relationships (from working to romantic.)

Examining these seemingly intrinsic foundational pieces of ourselves can expose automatic reactions to experience and their subsequent unmindful, often unintentional behaviors and reactions, built by the junk tossed into our psyches.

Do you want silent learned and installed programs running in your subconscious, forming your decision making, forming your success, forming your concept of self, and other's concept of you? Or do you want to be able to chose how you are in the world on your own terms?

This retreat suggests that while some of these deeply held beliefs can guide us, some are errant programs which warrant further dispassionate examination for determination of their worth in your emotional programming.

Come unravel the puzzle, so you can see the pieces, and decide what to keep. Remember: being brave is not acting in the absence of fear. It's being afraid and acting anyway.
Join us this October at a private ranch in beautiful Wallowa, OR for four days of introspection and community while we begin to open and explore the junk drawers of our psyche, take a look inside, perhaps begin to take inventory, and perhaps begin to weed out old items which no longer serve our growth.
