Join James Bailey and guest teacher Daphne Larkin as we travel to north and south India for two life changing journeys in one. In the south, we will travel to Kerala. Look forward to soft nourishing styles of yoga and meditation overlooking the ocean, a full 90 minute warm oil rejuvenation massage each day, ayurveda teachings, side trips to bathe elephants, local palaces and temples. In the north, we journey to Varanasi and the Taj Mahal.

Full Description

The Sacred Sap Retreat: Kerala is famous for it’s natural beauty, slow pace, and Ayurveda, considered the deepest of Ayurvedic traditions in India. Here you will find beautiful healing foods, pure fragrant oils used on the body in soothing warm oil massages, marma point treatments, shirodhara third-eye oil streams, and full body warm oil baths which combine to erase years from your body and mind. The intention of this retreat is complete rejuvenation. Daily treatments are deeply relaxing and nourishing, the food is purely satvic, dinner is served under the stars with live traditional Indian music and dance performances. Vegan, vegetarian and seafood options available.

Optional Post-Retreat Tour: After eight days of de-stressing and rejuvenation at Somatheeram Ayurvedic Health Resort in southern India, we’re ready to experience northern India. We invite you to join us on a three city, four-day post-retreat tour. We’ll start the tour with a visit to the holy Ganges River in the ancient city of Varanasi, also known as Kashi (the Luminous One) or the City of Light. Varanasi is a spiritual epicenter where devotees of Lord Shiva, both pilgrims and sadhus (holymen) gather to reflect on the transience of life, in plain view of the many cremation ghats on the banks of the Ganges. The traditional means of touring the Ganges is via rowboat along the river’s banks. We will start in the early morning as the sun rises over the southern plains illuminating the Ganges and north shore temples. This is a sacred time for prayer and meditation. In the evening, we will return to the Ganges to witness one of India’s largest fire ceremonies (arti, puja) to Ma Ganga, the holiest of rivers and source of life. We will watch the ceremony from the comfort of a private boat parked on the river’s banks. The next day we’ll take a short flight to the city of Agra to take in the beauty of the Taj Mahal, one of the great wonders of the world. We’ll visit the following day in the early morning as the sunrise peaks over the horizon onto the Taj dome. The Taj is a monument to all love, love for life, self, and partner. Bring an open heart and your camera! Towards the end of the day we will take a private car to Delhi for our departure home.
