Full Description

Description: This is a Level One, 200Hr Yoga Alliance accredited program for new teachers or keen students looking to deepen their knowledge in all aspects of yoga: Challenging, therapeutic vinyasa/asana, pranayama, meditation, Sanskrit, mantra, history, philosophy, energy anatomy and teaching methodology.

ABOUT EL CONVENTO: El Convento lies nine kilometers in the nature reserve Sierra de las Nieves in Andalucia. The reserve is a 30-minute drive from Ronda and 70 minutes away from the regions capital Malaga, the main airport you will fly into. The nearest village is El Burgo, near the reserve entrance.

The 500 year old history, fresh mountain air, remoteness in nature and towering convent above the rolling almond and olive groves make El Convento one of the most unique places on the planet I’ve ever visited. It is a place for adventurous nature lovers who love the mountains and are craving zero distraction.

Nic and his family are amazing. I love supporting families and their dreams, which is one reason why I want to return to El Convento. El Convento is completely off the grid, low impact on the environment and hugs your soul with quiet. Last year we arrived a little too early and it was colder than anticipated. This year we will be arriving later so to catch more summer sunshine and warmth.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: It is my mission to make this program one of best: with integrity, tradition and modernity in fusion with your personality and offerings. It is for those of you seeking to teach, or simply wanting to immerse in an intense experience for three weeks.

This is the ninth time I will be running the course. We spend the 21 days exploring the underbelly of what is yoga on all realms. This includes a three to four hour daily practice - power vinyasa based, pranayama, meditation, an overview of yoga history, philosophy, Sanskrit/mantras/chanting, practice teaching, posture clinics, anatomy, subtle anatomy and much more. There are four pre-requisite readings: Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Light on Life and Anatomy of the Spirit. Each book interweaves the above subjects and will teach you a new language surrounding the heart of yoga.

INFO FOR INTERESTED TEACHERS: The style you will be taught to teach is a Vinyasa/Power flow practice, but essentially - as you will learn, yoga is yoga is yoga. The teaching begins once the course is over and it is up to you to persevere and commit years on the mat to be a solid, new teacher. It takes time and patience. Like all good things, teaching takes time and courage to keep to doing it. If it is your calling, perfect. If not, you can't lose, as education is valuable, especially what the antiquity and modernity of yoga teaches.

All the varying methods in all studios take us to the same place, which is why I'm not into labeling my school to one "type" of yoga. Alignment, clarity and method will be key during our course, but teaching you a memorized sequence isn't my schtick. I want you to find your own voice as a student and teacher and find creative freedom in doing so.

Visiting anatomy teacher and assistant Zoey Stimpson will also be on board for part of the course. She is a gifted anatomy teacher and delightful presence.

TO APPLY: Please describe yourself, why yoga interests you, any injuries you may have, any concerns or questions, or your goals and dreams:
